Pathology

The Department of pathology has 10-member faculty assisted by technicians, clerical staff and service staff. The department provides the diagnostics services to our hospital. In addition, the department is involved in teaching pathology to the students of varied medical and paramedical disciplines.

The department of pathology in CIMSH has started its M.D Path in 2020, and shown exponential growth since then. The M.D pathology course is a good choice for aspiring post-graduate students and is structured based on the NMC requirement. The training is conducted by experienced and dedicated faculty. The Department has an air-conditioned research laboratory with Penta headed microscope and plasma TV for post- graduate teaching. We have a library with more than 90 books, along with Indian and foreign journals.

The Departmental Library facility containing all books for undergraduates with recent edition along with Computer is available. A well equipped Museum with 150 gross specimens from various body system with Information Chart and Models in student lab is being maintained.

Our post graduates are trained in the field of: Histopathology, cytology, hematology, blood banking, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, Fine needle aspiration cytology and Autopsy techniques.

The students have ample opportunity to carry out research under the expert mentorship of senior faculty and present scientific papers and publish them in high impact journals. The department also undertakes regular research activities, including prospective observational studies, case series, and thesis work in collaboration with various clinical departments.

Emphasis is placed on fostering a research-oriented mindset among students through active participation in workshops, academic conferences, and institutionally approved research projects under the guidance of the ethics committee.

Faculty members have actively contributed to academic development by delivering lectures and slide presentations in oncopathology seminars, various state and national-level conferences and CMEs, thereby enriching both intra- and inter-institutional learning.
